Client Spotlight – Savvy Sage – Rachel F. Burwell

Savvy Sage

Helping Clients Reconnect With Their Inner Wisdom

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT  |  RACHEL F. BURWELL  |  MYSTIC STRATEGIST

Sometimes even successful, accomplished people reach a point when something feels missing. They may feel disconnected from themselves, uncertain about their direction or unable to identify the next step forward.

Savvy Sage, founded by Rachel F. Burwell, helps clients explore those questions, reconnect with their inner wisdom and create meaningful change in their lives.

Through BuRa, LLC, Burwell works as a “Mystic Strategist,” drawing upon her professional background in education and counseling as well as her training in alternative and complementary practices. Her services incorporate approaches such as neurolinguistic programming, hypnosis, Reiki, Time-Line Therapy® and other energy-healing practices.

“The answers you seek are within you. Savvy Sage connects you to your inner wisdom.”

Turning Personal Exploration Into a Business

Before launching Savvy Sage, Burwell spent years exploring alternative therapies, mysticism and esoteric studies alongside her work in education and counseling. She also pursued specialized training in practices ranging from neurolinguistics and hypnosis to Reiki and energy healing.

Those experiences helped her develop a deeper connection with her own intuition and sense of self. They also revealed a new way in which she could help others.

Burwell recognized that lasting transformation may involve more than examining what someone thinks and feels. It can also come from connecting with what she describes as the wisdom of the spirit or higher self. She created Savvy Sage to share the tools that had helped her and to support others as they seek greater clarity, personal growth and a renewed perspective on themselves and the world around them.

Building a Business and a Community

Like many first-time entrepreneurs, Burwell began her business without knowing exactly what to expect.

“When I decided to start Savvy Sage, it was on a wing and a prayer,” she recalls.

She consulted an attorney and formed an LLC, then began reaching out to other professionals, joining chambers of commerce and participating in local business organizations. She attended events where she could meet other women entrepreneurs, learn more about operating a business and establish meaningful professional relationships.

Those early efforts paid off. New connections became colleagues and friends who understood the value of her work and began referring clients to her. Her experience demonstrates the importance of building a supportive professional network, particularly for a solo entrepreneur.

Expanding Awareness and Access

One of Savvy Sage’s long-term goals is to help increase awareness and understanding of complementary healing practices.

Burwell believes services such as Reiki, hypnosis and Time-Line Therapy® can support personal growth and enhance overall well-being. She emphasizes that these practices are not substitutes for appropriate medical or mental-health treatment but may be used as complementary tools.

She also hopes to make Savvy Sage’s services available to more people throughout the United States and around the world. Technology and distance-based practices create opportunities to work with clients and collaborate with other practitioners regardless of location. Savvy Sage already offers Distance Reiki, and Burwell sees considerable potential for expanding this aspect of the business.

“The possibilities are exciting,” she says.

Finding Support Through MCE and the Women’s Business Center

Maryland Capital Enterprises and the MCE Women’s Business Center have been part of Burwell’s entrepreneurial journey through educational programs, networking opportunities and connections with other women in business.

“From the Lunch & Learns to Aspire and Lead, the annual women’s conference and the learning and growth opportunities offered each month, MCE has played a role in where I am today,” she says.

Burwell is especially grateful for the relationships she has formed with MCE staff members and fellow entrepreneurs.

“Being a solo entrepreneur can be lonely and challenging,” she says. “The opportunities and community connections available through MCE have been a powerful, ongoing resource for me and many others.”

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Burwell encourages people starting businesses to remain open to learning and to seek out others who understand the entrepreneurial experience.

“Stay connected to MCE and the opportunities available to learn and connect with other women in business,” she advises. “Tap into opportunities to network. Keep learning. Be you, and be real.”

Most importantly, she reminds entrepreneurs that launching a business is the beginning of an evolving journey.

“As we continue to grow, we discover how to serve in ways only we can.”
