What We Are about

Maryland Capital Enterprises Women’s Business Center (WBC) is designed to empower business women in starting and expanding small businesses on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and across the state. The Women’s Business Center operates to empower women entrepreneurs to succeed. It offers training, consulting, one-on-one mentoring, and micro- and small business loans to women entrepreneurs from both center locations on the Eastern Shore.

This conference is for any business woman, aspiring women entrepreneurs, or current women business owners looking to expand their knowledge in various areas of the business world. The MCE WBC is designed to empower women-owned businesses to grow, create jobs, and generate wealth on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and across the state by nurturing and encouraging entrepreneurship.

MCE Women’s Business Center empowers businesses to grow, create jobs, and generate wealth on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and across the state. As part of our mission, MCE WBC provides business training classes to individuals who wish to start or expand their business. MCE WBC offers classes for starting a business, marketing a business, financial education, providing networking opportunities, and more. Entrepreneur of the Year

Maryland Capital Enterprise’s annual Entrepreneur of the Year Award is named in honor of one of our very own local businessman that has that great entrepreneurial spirit Palmer Gillis! Palmer Gillis, a Salisbury native, has spent the last 37 years building his construction company into the one of the largest general contracting firms on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Along the way, he continues to give back through public service, including as an elected member of the Salisbury City Council, and as a board member for numerous charitable causes and foundations. He has been a leading voice in trying to make his community a better place.
