Meet Chef Tosha of B&J’s Soulful Creations
Tell Us About Your Business
B&J’s Soulful Creations is named after Bateman and Johnson family names, and we specialize in offering a unique mobile food truck, catering, and private chef experience. Our top-selling dishes include Tuscan Cream sauce meals served with chicken, salmon, or shrimp, as well as our house-made jerk seasoning, which is a key ingredient in our honey jerk turkey wings and jerk chicken.
Our target market includes individuals who are busy but want something delicious and different. Since starting in 2019, we’ve grown steadily. My favorite aspect of the business is seeing an idea turn into reality—creating jobs, sharing culinary arts skills with at-risk youth, and connecting with our clients, who continually fuel our passion. Their referrals and suggestions never go unnoticed. We are truly grateful.
I want readers to know that we are committed to delivering a soulful experience, straight from our soul to yours.

How Did Your Business Get Started?
B&J’s Soulful Creations began as a thought that turned into a plan on paper. We took that plan, executed it, and watched it grow. In 2019, we started catering and hosting private chef events, and we haven’t looked back since.

How Has MCE and the Women’s Business Center Helped You?
MCE and the Women’s Business Center have been incredibly helpful. They supported me with my business plan, financials, and even helped secure a loan for our food truck. The webinars and various training opportunities they offer are impactful, resourceful, and highly educational.

What Advice Would You Give to Someone Starting a New Business?
If you have an idea, write it down, look at it, and put in the work to make it happen. Never give up—you’ve got this! If I can do it, so can you.
I was a troubled youth who turned my life around, and now I want to continue making a difference in our community. Believe in yourself, and don’t let obstacles stop you from reaching your dreams.
